International Women's Day - a time for our communities to come together

Welcome back to the Beautyworks blog, where we share all things skincare, kbeauty, culture and the latest news.

As we roll into March from what seems like the fastest two months of our lives, we look towards celebrating International Women’s Day with the rest of the world.

This year’s theme is breaking the bias. There are many unconscious biases that exist in our workplaces, communities and schools that root from dated ways of thinking and social standards. Although there is no one to blame, there is so much that can be done to break the bias and challenge historical ways of thinking.

International Women’s Day isn’t just an opportunity for our communities to rise up and challenge gender inequality, it’s also an opportunity to celebrate all the women around us and the unique contribution they make to society.

It’s a time to say thank you, we appreciate you and support you. Together, we can break the bias.

This year, we’ve teamed up with Strathfield Plaza and Strathfield Council to support the Women’s and Girls’ Emergency Centre - an organisation that supports women and families in crisis and advocates for social change in community.

As a community, we’ll be raising funds to donate to the WAGEC and taking part in the IWD morning tea on Tuesday 8 March at Strathfield Town Hall. Beautyworks is one of the raffle prize sponsors of the morning tea this year and you can register to attend the morning tea here.

There will be guest speakers and, opportunities to donate, win a raffle prize and connect with community members over breakfast – hope to see you there!

We’re excited to be celebrating this particular day and want to send out a message to all our wonderful women in our communities who contribute to the world we live in.

Happy International Women’s Day!
