Toner Pads 101

Something I’ve recently been obsessed with are toner pads. We’re seeing more of these products in K-beauty and they come in a range of different types just like other toners, but soaked in their own pads which often complement the use. This, I think is the main benefit of using toner pads. If the product contains ingredients that help gently exfoliate, it will be soaked on a cotton pad that has a bumpy side that gently removes dead skin cells, which is more effective than using a regular cotton pad.

It’s also great to save time and space in your bag whilst traveling and super easy to use. The generous amount of product in the container also ensures instant hydration. I generally keep two types at home, one that helps with exfoliation and brightening, and one that helps with calming and irritation, if ever I feel some breakouts.

Beautyworks has a range of different toner pads but which one is for you?

  1. Goodal Apple AHA Clearing Toner Pads

They say an apple a day keeps the doctor away and these apple AHA clearing toner pads can be used as a daily dead skin remover, keeping your pores clean and skin tone bright. The embossed side here is effective for gently exfoliating whist the soft side helps smooth out the skin. These particular pads are also slightly larger than most, so can also be used on the body.

  2. Some By Mi Aha-Bha-Pha 30 Days Miracle Truecica Clear

One of my favourite empties from the past year! The Some By Mi 30 days Miracle series really helped me with keeping my skin clean and free from irritation while we had to wear masks everywhere. This toner pad mainly helps calm your skin and balance out your PH levels whilst removing dead skin cells and impurities from external pollutants. When I do have targeted troubled areas, I’ll use it as a mask and leave it on the area for a few minutes before wiping.

  3. COSRX Propolis Synergy Pad

Propolis is a popular K-beauty ingredient which is known for its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. This pad contains a whopping 84% propolis extract, revitalising the skin and deeply hydrates it. This is also the pad I currently use at home on a daily basis to keep my skin feeling refreshed and hydrated all day. Dark spots is also one of my main skin concerns and propolis is known to help lessen the visibility of them.

  4. Round Lab Dokdo Pad

This is probably one of our most popular toner pads, and if you’re looking for something gentle and vegan, this is the one for you. These pads don’t have an embossed side but it still helps to gently remove dead skin cells, hydrate and balance your PH levels. It includes Panthenol, Allantoin, and Betaine to help calm the skin and is a great addition to your daily routine.

  5. Skinfood Carrot Carotene Calming Water Pad

A slightly thicker cotton pad with Carrot Extract and Carrot Seed Oil rich in Beta-Carotene and antioxidants to moisturise the skin while calming over-heated or sensitised skin. This one is good for this warm season and is also great to be used as a mask when needed. If you get patches of redness and inflammation, that is when it would be great as a mask.

  6. Skinfood Pantothenic Water Parsley Clear Pad

The next one on my list to try is this water parsley pad which contains pantothenic acid from fresh water parsley extract. It is very refreshing and with LHA, it helps balance out the oil and water content in your skin. I find that during the warmer months, my skin goes from being very dry, to having oily patches particularly around my nose and my chin. So this one would be perfect for keeping those areas under control and gently exfoliating skin daily.
