Top 5 sunscreens for this Summer

Happy November to all our Beautyworks members! I can’t believe the year is almost over, Christmas is the best time of the year but I didn’t know it would come around so quickly - where has this year gone.

Opposed to the widely known White Christmas in other parts of the world, Australian Christmas is all about beachside hangs, home BBQs and Christmas cards of surfing Santas.

We’ve mentioned this before but SPF is truly one of the best ways we can nurture our skin and delay the effects of time. But with the range of products available, not all SPF is the right SPF. I feel like the reason most people don’t like wearing sunscreen is either because of sensitive skin or the oily effect it has. Today, I’ve picked five SPF products worth considering this summer.

  1. Innisfree Tone Up No Sebum Sunscreen SPF50+ PA++++ (50ml)
I love summer but one of the most inconvenient things about the heat is the amount of oil and sebum produced, also affecting make-up. We already know of the no-sebum line from Innisfree that helps keep the shine at bay throughout the day. This sunscreen includes the no-sebum powder and has a matte finish, suitable for those with normal to oily skin. It also has a tone up effect, so would be great for use before make up.
  2. Dr Jart + Cicapair Calming Sun Protector (50ml)
Those who have acne-prone skin or irritation, are often opposed to wearing sunscreen because it creates further irritation or redness. This shouldn’t be the reason not to wear sunscreen, you just have to choose the right one! The Dr Jart Cicapair calming sun protector is still 30+SPF but calms your skin whilst protecting it from UV.

  3. Etude House Soonjung Mild Defense Sun Cream SPF 49+ (50ml)
Another great option for those with sensitive skin is this low ph, low irritant and hypoallergenic sunscreen. As gentle as it is, it doesn’t shy away from strong protection as it still boasts 49+ SPF.

  4. CNP Laboratory Tone-Up Protection Sunblock (50ml)
The perfect pick as a make up base, this option has 42+SPF protection from UVA and UVB rays. Along with sebum controlling properties, it also has a brightening effect, especially perfect for those with dull or uneven skin tones.

  5. COSRX Aloe Soothing Sun Cream SPF 50+ (50ml)
Saving the best for last, my favourite SPF is this COSRX Aloe sunscreen. I have notoriously dry skin and this not only provides ultimate protection from the sun but also hydrates and nourishes my skin with the aloe. The ultimate multi use product and definitely a skin staple this summer, especially because Melbourne is windier and a little drier than Sydney (I feel).

GUYS! It’s so important to know what all the skincare products out there actually affect your skin. Just because it has high SPF or includes special ingredients, doesn’t mean it’s right for you. If you have any questions or unsure about what’s right for you, leave us a message!

In case you missed it, these are the skin benefits you need to know about vitamin C.
